Because of the parents' refusal to vaccinate, a measles epidemic began in Prague
This year, about 70 patients with measles were registered in the Czech Republic. In the first three months of last year, the number of measles infections was only 38. According to the doctors' forecasts, the incidence of measles will grow even more in the coming days.

Since March in Prague, where more than 60% of patients with measles have been registered, have declared an epidemic. More than half of the infected are children. Doctors say that one of the reasons for this spread of measles was the refusal of many parents to vaccinate children.

The number of patients with measles is growing throughout the Czech Republic. In Prague, already infected 48 people.

"We expect a further surge in measles infection. Several patients with suspicion of measles have already been hospitalized, at the moment there is a laboratory confirmation of this infection, "said the spokesman of the Prague Sanitary and Epidemiological Station Zbinek Boublik.

In recent years, more and more parents have refused to vaccinate children from measles. According to doctors, the reason for this was the myth that a vaccine against measles can cause autism and other health problems. However, this statement was officially recognized as erroneous.

For children, measles is the greatest danger.

"It has been proven that children who have had measles before the age of 5 are most often affected by complications. They are threatened with brain inflammation (encephalitis) and other serious diseases that can lead to death, "- said the chairman of the Professional Organization of Practicing Children's Doctors Anna Shebkova.
